Message of Ambassador Chu Cong Phung

Dear friends! Welcome to the website of the Embassy of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in the Union of Myanmar.

Myanmar was one of the first overseas missions opened by the Democratic Republic of Vietnam. In 1947, only 2 years after gaining Independence, the Democratic Republic of Vietnam opened the Representative Office in Rangoon (now is Yangon) for the special duty aimed at serving the protracted war of resistance against the French Colonialists. On December 1957, the two countries established Consular General Offices in each other's Capital.

The Embassy of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam was opened in May 1975, following the establishment of the diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Myanmar. Since then, the Embassy has contributed actively to the enhancement of mutual understanding, friendship and cooperation between the two countries and peoples.

In order to promote further the role and contributions of our Mission for now and time to come, the website of the Embassy is designed to provide up-to-date information about Vietnam’s country and its people, Multi-faceted bilateral Vietnam – Myanmar relations in all aspects as well as the Embassy’s functions and activities.

It is our sincere wish that the website will serve as a good source of information for your better knowledge and understanding about our country, our relations and our work, thereby helping to build a better world for all of us to live in peace, harmony and prosperity.
